The Timmins and District Hospital
Foundation (T&DHF) in collaboration with
TimminsGetClean.com marked the launch of a new and
innovative community fundraiser “Cleaning our
community for a Healthier Tomorrow”.
On Saturday, May 31st, 2008, the community will experience a city overhaul. The Timmins and District Hospital Foundation (T&DHF) in collaboration with TimmingGetClean are hosting a community wide clean-up. People from across the district will come together to raise funds for the hospital while cleaning our environment.
The T&DHF and TimminsGetClean are appealing to the public to participate. “I am challenging every organization within Timmins to join this event, to make Timmins a healthier place to live”, said Mayor Tom Laughren, Honorary Chair. This is an opportunity for local businesses, service groups, and residents within the city to come together and register teams in order to acquire pledges in hopes to raise funds for the 2007-2009 campaign “Give… for the Health of it!”.
The days event will begin with a celebration parade through the main core of Timmins before teams gear up, to head out, across the community to do a four hour cleanup. Following the cleanup there will be an appreciation BBQ with entertainment, prizes for the most original litter found, and a prize for the best dressed team.
The Timmins and District Hospital (T&DH) is one of the largest employers in the Timmins area. T&DH is dedicated to providing health care services that are consistent with the needs of our community and district. “It is our opportunity to give back to the community and make it a better place to live” said Jean-Pierre Nadon, Executive Director of the Foundation. “A healthy lifestyle begins with the mind, body and soul”. As a referral hospital, T&DH would like to take a proactive stance on making our community a healthier place to live.
